Cerec  - 1 visit porcelain ceramic crowns and inlays

What is Cerec?
Cerec is a high tech system that allows a dentist to design, fabricate and fit a porcelain ceramic crown or filling in one visit. After the dentist has prepared the tooth a 3D camera captures an image and a computer makes a model of the tooth (therefore no need for impressions).

The dentist then uses the advanced high tech Computer Aided design (CAD) features of Cerec to design exactly how the new filling or crown will look. Once designed an extremely accurate milling unit fabricates the restoration from a porcelain block. The restoration is then polished and bonded onto the tooth.

Why Cerec?
There are three main advantages to the use of Cerec:

1. Provides a aesthetic tooth coloured restoration
2. Can all be achieved in one visit
3. Uses porcelain ceramic which has similar wear     characteristics to enamel unlike resin or plastic fillings.     Porcelain is also an extremely inert material biologically
.
